West Virginia offers FREE summer programs for 7th-11th graders, including arts, humanities, math, science, technology, business, tourism/hospitality management, and more. Applications are currently open for the following Governor's Schools:
Governor's Honors Academy (GHA): Open to current 11th graders. GHA takes place at West Virginia University from July 12-July 26, 2025. Student applications are due Wednesday, March 26th!
Governor's School for Tourism (GST): Open to current 9th-10th graders. GST includes a 10-day tour of West Virginia, including several stays at state park lodges. GST takes place June 20th-29th, 2025. Student applications are due Thursday, April 3rd!
Governor's STEM Institute- WVU: Open to current 7th graders. The WVU STEM institute is a MythBusters themed STEM camp at West Virginia University, taking place either June 28th-July 5th, 2025 OR July 20th-27th, 2025. Student applications are due Friday, April 4th!
Governor's STEM Institute- Green Bank: Open to current 8th graders. Students will learn about planets, the Milky Way, black holes, and more at Green Bank Observatory in Pocahontas County. Camp is July 6th-19th, 2025. Student applications are due Friday, April 4th!
Governor's Computer Science Institute (GCSI): Open to current 9th-10th graders. No previous experience with computer science or coding is necessary. GSCI will be held at WVU from July 6th-12th, 2025. Student applications are due Friday, April 11th!
Governor's School for Entrepreneurship (GSE): Open to current 9th-11th graders. Past attendees are also welcome to apply. GSE will be held at Marshall University in Huntington from July 11th-20th, 2025. Student applications are due by the end of April!
